Hercules Trophy debut: straight onto the podium
On 27 June, Gumption entered a team in the Hercules Trophy for the very first time. Ambitious, yes, but mostly there for the fun of it. Well prepared, though – credit to captain Daphne. And we made it straight onto the podium. People have made headlines for less …
So, how did we pull it off? The Gumption way: with a 360° mix of skills, strategy before execution.
No gumption(*), no glory
We aimed to hit the target, not just wing it. Pedalling, rowing, running – until we could taste the lactic acid. The tougher it got, the more we liked it. And 37°C? Part of the fun.
Disc golf. Precision under pressure. The instinct to hit the target, at the right time … even when the project(ile) suddenly takes an unexpected turn.
Truck pulling. Shoulder to shoulder. Keep pulling.
Cycling on rollers. Stay focused. Fight all the way to the finish.
Heatwave? Bring it on! And through it all, we stayed on point.
Mission accomplished
Fun? Check. Podium? Check. Third place out of 64 teams.
